Questions and answers
If the answer you need is not here, email support@guardianway.store. We answer Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 17:00 Mountain Time.
Ordering
Do I need an account to order?
No. Checkout works as a guest. An account only saves your addresses and keeps your order history in one place, and you can create one after ordering if you decide you want it.
Can I change or cancel an order after placing it?
Yes, if it has not been dispatched. Email support@guardianway.store with the order number as soon as you can. We dispatch same day on orders placed before 13:00 Mountain Time, so speed matters. Once it has gone, treat it as a return.
Can you key several locks alike?
Yes, at no charge, on any of our Grade 1 and Grade 2 cylinders bought in the same order. Say so in the order notes at checkout and we cut them together before dispatch. We cannot key alike across separate orders because the first has already shipped.
Do you sell to landlords and contractors?
Yes, on the same terms. The rental property package on plate 66 is built for per-unit fitting and includes a compliance record card. We do not run a separate trade account or trade pricing.
Shipping
When will my order ship?
Same business day if you order before 13:00 Mountain Time, otherwise the next business day. You get a tracking number when the parcel physically leaves us.
How much is shipping?
$6.95 standard, free over $75. Expedited is $18.95. Safes over 60 lb ship on a freight service at $39.00 flat and are excluded from free shipping — the product page says so before you add one.
Do you ship outside the United States?
Not at present. We ship to all 50 states, to PO boxes where the item fits, and to APO and FPO addresses.
How does a safe get delivered?
On a pallet, kerbside. The carrier calls to arrange a window, so give a phone number you will answer. Have two people and a trolley. Inspect the pallet and note any damage on the paperwork before you sign — that note is what a damage claim rests on.
Returns
What is the returns window?
Thirty days from delivery, unused and in the original packaging with everything that came with it. Full detail on the Returns and refunds page.
Who pays return shipping?
We do, with a prepaid label, if the item is faulty, damaged, wrong or not as described. You do if you changed your mind. There is no restocking fee either way.
What cannot be returned?
Discharged extinguishers, opened sterile first-aid consumables, deployed fire blankets, cut restricted keys, and safes that have been bolted down. If any of those arrive faulty, you are still covered.
How long does a refund take?
We issue it within five business days of receiving the return. Your bank then takes its own three to five business days for a card.
Products and standards
Why does the standard column sometimes just say a dash?
Because no published standard applies to that item. A window security bar, a between-studs wall safe, a lockbox and hinge security pins have no relevant UL or ANSI standard. We print a dash and explain in the description rather than cite something that does not apply.
Photoelectric or ionisation — which smoke alarm should I buy?
Photoelectric responds faster to smouldering fires, which is the kind that starts while people are asleep. Ionisation is faster on fast flaming fires but causes most nuisance alarms. We stock photoelectric as the default, and a dual-sensor unit on plate 44 for landings and bedrooms where cooking is not nearby.
What does “Class 350, one hour” mean on a safe?
The interior stays below 350°F — the temperature at which paper chars — for sixty minutes at a furnace temperature above 1700°F. It protects paper. Digital media needs Class 125, which we do not currently stock, so drives should go in the document bags on plate 13 inside the safe.
Is Grade 1 worth it over Grade 3?
On an entry door, yes, and it is not close. Grade 1 is tested to ten strikes of 75 ft-lb with a one-inch bolt throw and a hardened insert. Grade 3 is tested to about a fifth of that. Fitting a Grade 1 bolt into an unreinforced strike plate gives back most of the difference, which is why ours ship with the strike kit.
How often do alarms need replacing?
Ten years from the date of manufacture printed on the body, not from when you fitted it. Carbon monoxide sensors are typically seven. Both signal end of life with a pattern distinct from the low-battery chirp; the manual tells you which.
Do you fit any of this?
No. We are a supplier, not an installer. Everything we stock is chosen partly because an ordinary person can fit and maintain it without a trade licence. Where an item genuinely wants a joiner — the multi-point patio lock on plate 41 — the description says so.
Payment and account
What payment methods do you take?
Major credit and debit cards at checkout. We do not receive or store your full card number; it goes to our payment processor.
Is sales tax added?
Where it applies, and it is calculated and shown at checkout before you pay.
Will Guardian Way appear on my statement?
Yes. The descriptor is GUARDIAN WAY. If you see a charge you do not recognise, email support@guardianway.store before disputing it and we will find the order.
