Two hazards, two sensor technologies, one mounting position. Photoelectric smoke sensing and an electrochemical carbon monoxide cell in a single sealed unit, with a voice announcement that says which one has triggered — the difference matters, because one means get out and the other means get out and ventilate.
Sealed ten-year battery, hush button, and distinct end-of-life signalling. Suitable for hallways outside sleeping areas where code commonly requires both.
Fitting and care. One unit covers both hazards but the ideal positions for smoke and for CO are not identical, so this is a compromise device: put it in the hallway outside the sleeping area, at least ten feet from the cooker and fifteen from a boiler or furnace. Test monthly with the button and listen for both tones. Vacuum the vents twice a year. Learn the two alarm patterns from the manual now rather than at three in the morning — smoke is three beeps then a pause, CO is four, and the difference is get out versus get out and open the windows.
