The largest outfit we assemble, for a three or four bedroom house on two floors with a basement and an attached garage. Eight interlinked alarms across all three levels including a heat alarm for the garage, the gas and the leak detector, three extinguishers sized to their positions, the fire blanket, two escape ladders for upstairs bedrooms, the wall-mounted first-aid station, the household kit and the 72-hour emergency pack.
Every alarm on the same link and the same end-of-life date. Bought separately this is a little over $840, and it is a weekend’s work to fit.
Fitting and care. Budget a full weekend. Alarms first while the ladder is out, and pair every unit on a table before any goes up; the heat alarm belongs in the garage and links with the rest. Then the gas and leak detectors, minding the mounting height for your fuel. Then extinguishers to their positions, tags started the same day. Ladders go in the rooms they serve, deployed once with the people who sleep there. One six-monthly reminder covers the whole outfit, and one replacement year covers every alarm.
