The three positions worth covering, in the sizes each one needs: 2.5 lb rated 2-A:10-B:C for the kitchen, 5 lb rated 3-A:40-B:C for the garage or shop, and a 2 lb 1-A:10-B:C with a metal vehicle bracket for the car.
All three rechargeable with metal valves and pressure gauges, all three with mounts. Buying them together is about twelve per cent under the individual prices and it means the whole house gets done in one afternoon instead of one room a year.
Fitting and care. Fit all three the same afternoon and tag them with the same date, which is the whole point of buying them together. Kitchen unit between the cooker and the exit; garage unit by the door into the house; vehicle unit bolted to the boot floor or seat rail, never loose. Check all three gauges monthly — put it on the same reminder as the alarms. Invert and shake the two dry powder units twice a year. Any that discharges, even briefly, goes for recharge rather than back on its bracket.
