An upstairs bedroom with one door and one window has exactly one alternative exit, and it only counts if there is a way down. This ladder hooks over a standard window sill and unrolls in a single motion, with anti-slip rungs and standoffs that hold it clear of the siding so there is room for a foot.
Tested to 1000 lb. Stores flat under the bed or in the closet nearest the window it belongs to — which is the point: a ladder in the garage is not an escape ladder.
Fitting and care. Store it in the room it serves, under the bed or in the closet by the window, not in the garage. Unroll it once when it arrives and again once a year so it does not take a set, and check the hooks and the standoffs for corrosion at the same time. Practise the deployment with everyone who sleeps in that room — it takes about eight seconds when you have done it once and considerably longer when you have not. Not rated for repeated use or for training descents; if it has taken a load in an emergency, replace it.
