A full-hour UL 72 Class 350 rating: the interior stays under 350°F for sixty minutes at a furnace temperature above 1700°F. That is the rating that matters for deeds, titles, wills, birth certificates and the paper record of a household, and it is four times the protection of the thirty-minute chest on plate 22.
Cold-rolled steel body at 2.0 mm with live-locking bolts, an electronic keypad with key override, a bolt-down kit and an interior organised for folders standing upright rather than stacked flat. 1.2 cubic feet, which takes a full set of household papers with room left. At 118 lb it needs two people and a trolley; bolt it down, because an unbolted safe is a container that can be carried out and opened somewhere else.
Fitting and care. Bolt it down. An unbolted safe of this size is a container that two people can carry out and open at leisure somewhere else, and the bolt-down kit is included for that reason. Fit it on a solid floor, on the lowest storey, away from an exterior corner if you can. Keep folders upright rather than stacked flat so the interior air can move. Do not store drives or cards in it without the document bags on plate 13 — Class 350 is a paper rating. Check the keypad battery yearly and keep the override key off the premises.
