A vehicle extinguisher spends its life being thrown around a boot, so the two things that matter are a metal valve that holds pressure and a bracket that holds the cylinder. Most cheap vehicle units have a plastic valve and a plastic clip; both fail, quietly, and the gauge is the only warning.
Two pounds, rated 1-A:10-B:C, rechargeable, with a steel quick-release bracket that bolts to the boot floor or the seat rail. Check the gauge when you check the tyres.
Fitting and care. Bolt the bracket to the boot floor or a seat rail; a loose cylinder in a boot is a projectile in a collision and a dented cylinder is scrap. Mount it where a person outside the car can reach it, not under a load. Check the gauge whenever you check the tyres. Temperature cycling in a car is hard on any extinguisher, so look at the base and the neck for corrosion once a year and replace rather than argue with a marginal one.
